How to stay in touch with friends during lockdown.

With the UK lockdown being extended most of us are missing our family and friends more than ever. Brunch dates, cinema trips and Sunday family meet-ups has come to a halt for now. But a lack of physical contact doesn’t mean we have to stop socialising.

We have thought of a few ways you can stay in touch with your favourite people during this time without putting your health (or theirs) at risk. This way you can enjoy the feel good moments even if they aren’t physically there with you.

1.Digital party

There are many ways to have a digital party. Apps like Houseparty and platforms like Zoom and Insta lives are very popular, fun and free. Someone can be the house Dj for the night, make sure you all have your glass filled, log in and join enjoy the party. You might even find new connections!

2. Sending a thoughtful gift

Many people are spending their birthdays and having to celebrating other lovely moments in lockdown. You can brighten up your friends day by sending them something special through the post. Its a great way to congratulate, say happy birthday or simply just because. Check out our Build Your Own Box section to create something unique.

3. Start an e-book club

You can use this time to tackle your reading list – and bring your friends on board too! Why not start with a book you might all enjoy. You can get some through Amazon e-book or the Kindle app. You can even join a live streamed book club. Salon – London has upcoming events where you can take part in Q&A sessions.

4. Play online games

Enjoy your favourite games on your smartphone or tablet. Take a break from work with fun games like Ludo Star. Invite your friends to a private table and compete for the title! There are so many games to choose from, just head over to your App Store and find the perfect one for you.

5. Work out sessions

Enjoy the perks of having a gym buddy from the comfort of your home. Motivate your friends to join a live workout session on YouTube. Fitness app Urban offers private, live streamed classes in yoga, physiotherapy, mindfulness and personal training. Tuning in is a great way to exercise together and stay healthy during this pandemic. You can even start your own work out challenges.

It is important to remember that this is a shared experience that’s stressful for everyone – staying connected and supporting each other can do a world of good to us all.

What ways are you trying to keep in touch with your friends and family during this time?

Sending love, Temu xx
